TikTok Shop image requirements
The minimum, the square shape, the nine slots, the formats and the 5 MB cap all come from TikTok Shop's own seller education pages, checked on 2 August 2026. No maximum resolution appears anywhere in them, so the 1600 px this preset produces is our recommendation — twice the documented floor — and not a TikTok requirement. The uploader separately rejects images at or below 300 × 300, which is a different check from the listing minimum.
How to resize images for TikTok Shop
1Add your product shots
Up to 50 files at once. Nine is what a single listing takes, so one batch usually covers several products.
2Keep it square at 1600 px
White padding squares a wide photo without cutting the product down. Switch to crop if the shot is already tight and you would rather fill the frame.
3Download and upload
Take the ZIP, then load the images into the listing with the clearest front-on shot first.
TikTok Shop publishes a minimum and means it as one: each image must be at least 800 × 800 pixels. It gets repeated so often as 'the TikTok Shop image size' that sellers build whole catalogues at exactly 800, which is the single number guaranteed to look worst. It is the floor the platform accepts, and an image that has only just cleared a floor has nothing left to give when TikTok re-encodes it for the feed.
Square is not a preference here. The published guidance is up to nine square images per listing, so anything else gets fitted into a square by somebody along the way. The accepted formats are JPG, JPEG and PNG, the cap is 5 MB per image, and the uploader separately refuses anything at or below 300 × 300 before the listing rules even apply.
What TikTok Shop does not publish is a maximum resolution. This preset uses 1600 pixels square, and that is our number rather than TikTok's: double the documented minimum, enough detail to survive a re-encode, and at quality 85 nowhere near the 5 MB ceiling. If you have a reason to go higher, nothing stops you — there is no documented ceiling to bump into, and any page quoting one is guessing.
